Do you ever give tours? Perhaps you show donors or prospective donors around your facility, or take them to a program site.
What do you point out when you’re there? How do you describe what’s going on?
In the most recent
Toolbox newsletter, Jon Simons talks about inviting your top ten donors to visit your program or facility before the end of the year.
Donors can be impressed by your literature, but they’re sure to be inspired by the faces of the people you help each day.
So if (when!) you meet that challenge and get a donor to visit your site, think long and hard about what’s going on. When you look in at that program in action:
- Who is there thanks to the generosity of donors?
- How is this scene different today than it was last year?
- How does what you’re looking at help to promote your mission in the community?
Try it and let us know how it worked by dropping us a comment.
