A fascination with people and service has been the essential driving force behind Thom’s work with local and national non-profit organizations. Thom’s career in service began with his first summer as a YMCA camp counselor in college. From there, he went on to build a 30-year career within the not-for-profit arena.
Thom has held executive positions with YMCAs in Albuquerque, San Jose, Chicago and Milwaukee, allowing him to develop expertise in leadership, group work, strategic planning, volunteerism, and staff development. He has demonstrated a keen ability to listen to and understand an organization’s needs, helping them bridge the gaps between status quo and mission fulfillment. Thom has worked with many human service organizations with additional experience in public policy, servant leadership, and program development.

Thom’s uses his appreciation of strong teamwork and culture in his work on the DBD's Leadership Team where he plays “keeper of the culture” and brings the values of DBD to new team members in the onboarding process.
A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Education, Thom resides in Cedarburg, WI with his wife Rachelle. He has leadership roles in his church and volunteers with several food pantries and a local conservation foundation.
